All About the Journey by John Holmes (2005)
This was written on a trip to Mexico via Lake Tahoe and Arizona. I wanted to incorporate both a Latin feel and a the Native American influence we experienced when we stayed in a teepee near Chochise Stronghold in Arizona. This version was done with some members of the band, Sol. Doug Rehfeldt played bass and Gabe De La Rosa added additional percussion. — John
LYRICS
Wake up every morning
To the sun shining down
Every night the stars are so bright
With the desert all around
Somewhere south and west
In the hills of the desert
Mile high in the sun and the snow
The mountains over Tahoe
Seeing Danny down in Reno
Another stop on the way down to Mexico
Well it's a long way to go
But it's all about the journey, oh
Somewhere south and west
In the hills of the desert
Rocks piled up so high in the breeze
Walking in the hills of Cochise
All about the journey
See what you see
So much out there in the world
All about the journey yeah
Round the next bend
Who will you meet?
Another friend
Don't worry bout your destination
Everywhere holds inspiration
Wake up every morning
To the sun shining down
Every night the stars are so bright
With the desert all around
Well the sun and the stars, the moon in the sky
Dusting of snow on the mountains so high
It's all about the journey
Got a long way to go
It's all about the journey yeah, down to Mexico
